Xasthur 'All Reflections Drained'

Originally released in 2009, All Reflections Drained captures Xasthur near the end of the project’s original black metal era, pushing Scott Conner’s unmistakable sound deeper into isolation, atmosphere and psychological darkness.

Built from layers of distant guitars, buried vocals, ambient texture and deliberately lo-fi production, the album moves less like a conventional collection of songs than a bleak cinematic landscape. Tracks including “Dirge Forsaken,” “Maze of Oppression,” “Masquerade of Incisions,” “Damage Your Soul” and the title track stretch Xasthur’s depressive black metal into increasingly hypnotic and atmospheric territory.

The record also occupies an unusual place in Scott Conner’s catalog. Originally associated with the Nocturnal Poisoning name, All Reflections Drained was later incorporated by Conner into the official Xasthur discography and is now regarded as the project’s seventh full-length.

More than a decade after its original release, All Reflections Drained finally received its first vinyl edition, presented as a gatefold 2LP through Lupus Lounge / Prophecy Productions.

Bleak, immersive and deliberately suffocating, it captures the distinctive atmosphere that made Xasthur one of the defining names in American depressive black metal.
