Quicksand 'Slip' Deluxe Book

The 30th Anniversary Deluxe Edition of Quicksand’s Slip pairs the newly remastered vinyl LP with a 64-page hardcover book documenting the creation, release, and lasting influence of one of post-hardcore’s defining albums.

Remastered from the original 1993 master tapes by Jack Shirley at The Atomic Garden, the LP also includes the bonus track “How Soon Is Now?” and is pressed on Yellow and Red Swirl vinyl.

The accompanying hardcover book features a foreword by Walter Schreifels, never-before-seen photographs, original artwork, rare concert posters, show flyers, and ephemera from 1990 through 1994. It also includes written contributions from members of Anthrax, Helmet, Sepultura, Thursday, Rise Against, Refused, Youth of Today, Thrice, Agnostic Front, Snapcase, Earth Crisis, Cave In, and many more.

Presented with a case-wrapped soft-touch cover and individually foil-stamped numbering, the Deluxe Edition is limited to 2,000 copies.

Originally released in 1993, Slip remains one of the records that defined post-hardcore. Quicksand emerged from New York hardcore but pushed that foundation into something heavier, more melodic, and more expansive, creating a bridge between the underground punk world of the 1980s and the alternative rock explosion of the 1990s.

From the opening weight of “Fazer” through “Dine Alone,” “Lie and Wait,” “Omission,” “Unfulfilled,” and “Transparent,” Slip balances massive riffs, melody, tension, and space in a way few records of its era could match. Its influence can be heard across generations of bands including Deftones, Glassjaw, Title Fight, and countless others who followed.

The album was recorded by Walter Schreifels (Gorilla Biscuits, Youth of Today), Tom Capone (Beyond, Bold), Sergio Vega (Deftones, Moondog), and Alan Cage (Beyond, Seaweed), and co-produced by Steven Haigler (Pixies) and Don Fury (Sick of It All, Agnostic Front).
