Piebald 'If It Weren't For Venetian Blinds It Would Be Curtains For Us All'

Originally released in 1999 on Big Wheel Recreation, If It Weren’t for Venetian Blinds, It Would Be Curtains for Us All captures Piebald at the moment they were transforming from their hardcore roots into the witty, melodic, and impossible-to-pin-down sound that would define the band.

Now available again on vinyl after being out of print since its original release, this deluxe edition from Iodine Recordings has been completely remastered for vinyl by Jack Shirley at The Atomic Garden and features reconstructed artwork created from the original source materials and photographs, along with new retrospective commentary from the band.

Coming out of the Merrimack Valley scene that also produced Converge and Cave In, Piebald brought the energy of hardcore into increasingly adventurous songwriting, pairing angular guitars and unpredictable arrangements with huge hooks, humor, and unmistakable personality. Venetian Blinds sits at the center of that evolution, bridging underground post-hardcore and emo with the more expansive indie-rock songwriting that would follow.

Equal parts sincere, chaotic, melodic, and strange, If It Weren’t for Venetian Blinds, It Would Be Curtains for Us All remains one of the most important records in Piebald’s catalog and an essential document of late-’90s New England emo and post-hardcore.
