Orchid 'Orchid'

Originally released in 2002 on Ebullition Records, Orchid’s self-titled LP, commonly known as Gatefold, is the band’s third and final full-length from their original run.

Across 19 songs, Orchid push their frantic screamo and emoviolence foundation into a more expansive, art-damaged form, balancing explosive hardcore with jagged post-hardcore, melody, noise, and abrupt shifts in mood. Tracks like “Amherst Pandemonium,” “Loft Party,” “We Love Prison,” “Fashion Meets Passion,” “Tigers,” “None More Black,” and “Impersonating Martin Rev” capture a band sounding both completely unhinged and completely in control.

Recorded at Dead Air Studios in Amherst, Massachusetts and engineered by guitarist Will Killingsworth, the album represents the fullest realization of Orchid’s sound before the band ended its original run in 2002.

Coming out of the Western Massachusetts underground, Orchid became one of the most influential names in screamo and emoviolence, and this final LP remains an essential document of that era.

Pressed on vinyl by Ebullition Records in a gatefold sleeve. The current 2026 pressing is on orange vinyl.
