Orchid 'Dance Tonight... Revolution Tomorrow!'

Originally released in 2000 on Ebullition Records, Dance Tonight! Revolution Tomorrow! is one of the defining releases from Orchid, the Amherst, Massachusetts band that helped shape the sound and vocabulary of screamo and emoviolence at the turn of the millennium.

Recorded at God City and produced by Kurt Ballou, the 10-song record condenses Orchid’s sound into just over fifteen minutes of frantic hardcore, jagged guitar work, abrupt shifts, melody, and total emotional overload. Tracks like “Destination: Blood!,” “To Praise Prosthesis,” “I Am Nietzche,” “Victory Is Ours,” “Black Hills,” and “…And the Cat Turned to Smoke” capture the band at their most focused and volatile.

Released between Chaos Is Me and Gatefold, Dance Tonight! Revolution Tomorrow! pushed Orchid’s chaotic hardcore into an even sharper and more expressive form, helping establish a blueprint that would influence generations of screamo, hardcore, and emoviolence bands that followed.

Pressed as a 10" vinyl release by Ebullition Records, it remains one of the essential records in Orchid’s catalog and a cornerstone of late-’90s / early-2000s DIY hardcore.
