Hundreds of AU 'A Briefing on the Human Condition'

Originally released digitally in 2021, A Briefing on the Human Condition is a five-song EP from Hundreds of AU, capturing the New Jersey band’s collision of screamo, hardcore, and emotionally charged post-hardcore at its most concentrated.

Across “100 Year Test,” “Objective Party,” “Afloat,” “Ancestor Reality,” and “Return,” Hundreds of AU move between tightly wound technical passages, chaotic bursts of hardcore, and soaring melodic sections without losing the emotional urgency at the center of the band. The songs wrestle with political failure, collective responsibility, isolation, and the possibility of rebuilding something better from what remains.

Featuring members and alumni of You and I, The Assistant, Capacities, Hell Mary, Estella, Working Through Rust, and Lesser Minds, Hundreds of AU draw from decades of involvement in the screamo and hardcore underground while pushing the sound forward rather than simply recreating it.

The EP was recorded by Sean Glonek at SRG Studios and mixed and mastered by Kevin Carafa at Carafa Audio. The physical 12" edition followed in 2022 through Protagonist Music.

For listeners who discovered Hundreds of AU through Life in Parallel, A Briefing on the Human Condition offers an earlier snapshot of the same combination of desperation, melody, technical precision, and cathartic hardcore.
