Harvey Milk 'Life... The Best Game In Town'

Originally released in 2008, Life... The Best Game in Town captures Harvey Milk deep into their second act, refining the crushing heaviness and strange emotional range that made them one of the most singular bands in American underground music.

Following their mid-2000s return, the Athens, Georgia group pushed their sound into a tighter and more dynamic form. Massive sludge riffs and glacial dirges sit alongside bursts of classic rock, noise and unexpectedly fragile melody, all carried by Creston Spiers’ unmistakable vocals.

The album features Joe Preston of Thrones and Melvins, joining Spiers and Kyle Spence for a record that moves from the slow-motion weight of “Death Goes to the Winner” and “Roses” to the sharper attack of “Barn Burner” and the sprawling closer “Good Bye Blues.”

Heavy without being one-dimensional, Life... The Best Game in Town shows Harvey Milk at their most focused, balancing sludge, doom, noise rock and warped melody into something that still sounds completely their own.
