Further Seems Forever 'Hide Nothing'

Hide Nothing is the singular Jon Bunch-era album from Further Seems Forever, pairing the late Sense Field vocalist with one of the defining bands of early-2000s emo and post-hardcore.

Originally released by Tooth & Nail Records in 2004, the album found Further Seems Forever moving into warmer, more reflective territory without abandoning the urgency and intricate musicianship that defined their earlier records. Bunch’s unmistakably heartfelt voice gives songs like “Light Up Ahead,” “Hide Nothing,” “Make It a Part,” “Bleed,” and “For All We Know” an emotional character unlike anything else in the band’s catalog.

For its 20th Anniversary, Hide Nothing was completely remastered for vinyl by Jack Shirley at The Atomic Garden and returned to print for the first time since its original release. The expanded edition adds three previously unreleased acoustic recordings from 2004 featuring Bunch, including acoustic versions of “Bleed,” “Light Up Ahead,” and a combined “Make It a Part / All Rise.”

The album was originally produced and engineered by James Paul Wisner, whose work helped define a generation of melodic emo and alternative rock. The anniversary edition is housed in a deluxe gatefold jacket with updated packaging and a retrospective essay by Jonah Bayer, drawing on memories from Further Seems Forever and friends including Chris Carrabba of Dashboard Confessional, Tom Mullen of Washed Up Emo, Ian Fowles, and Wisner.

More than twenty years later, Hide Nothing remains one of Further Seems Forever’s most emotionally resonant records, and an essential part of the legacy of Jon Bunch, Sense Field, and the broader early-2000s emo scene.
