Drowningman’s Busy Signal at the Suicide Hotline returns to vinyl in a remastered 25th Anniversary Edition from Iodine Recordings. Originally released by Hydra Head Records in 1998, the album remains a defining document of late-’90s metallic hardcore, pairing angular riffs, chaotic intensity, and noise-rock abrasion with unexpectedly melodic songwriting.
Formed in Burlington, Vermont, Drowningman emerged alongside bands like Converge and Cave In, helping shape a strain of metalcore that was as strange and inventive as it was heavy. Songs like “Sadder Than Saturday” move effortlessly between dissonance and melody, while the record’s title track famously helped inspire the name Every Time I Die after a misheard lyric.
This expanded vinyl reissue includes two bonus tracks originally released around the same era, including material from Drowningman’s split with The Dillinger Escape Plan. The album has been remastered for vinyl by Jack Shirley (Deafheaven, Quicksand, Jeromes Dream), bringing new clarity and weight to one of the most distinctive records of the original Hydra Head era.
