Deadguy 'Near-Death Travel Services'

Hardcore/metal legends DEADGUY return after 30 years with their sophomore LP, Near-Death Travel Services. After reuniting on stage and proving that a few decades of dust couldn’t keep them from tearing into audiences like old times, the band knew exactly how heavy and deranged a new record needed to be.

Simply put, Near-Death Travel Services absolutely rips. A long-awaited follow-up to the massively influential Fixation on a Coworker, the album tears through 11 tracks with the same confidence, tension and fury that made DEADGUY singular in the first place. Angular riffs, clashing guitars, fractured rhythms and gutter-level bass collide beneath Tim Singer’s unmistakable voice, still one of the most ferocious in extreme music.

Rather than trying to modernize or move away from their sound, DEADGUY dug deeper into it. Drummer Dave Rosenberg led the charge on the songwriting, building a mountain of riffs before the full band twisted them into something unmistakably their own.

Singer’s perspective has changed with time, but the venom hasn’t. The greed, cruelty and absurdity he once screamed about now feel even more immediate, filtered through the perspective of a father watching a darker world take shape around his children.

The title Near-Death Travel Services began as an inside joke about touring and playing this music well past the age when anyone expected them to. But there’s nothing nostalgic or diminished about the result. This doesn’t sound like a victory lap. It sounds like DEADGUY picked up exactly where they left off.
