Cult Leader 'Lightless Walk'

Originally released in 2015, Lightless Walk is the debut full-length from Cult Leader, the Salt Lake City band formed by members of Gaza after that band’s dissolution.

Recorded and engineered by Kurt Ballou at God City Studios, the album pushes metallic hardcore into something darker, more oppressive and more dynamic. Crushing riffs, grinding distortion and chaotic rhythm collide with moments of bleak atmosphere and restraint, giving the record a sense of weight that goes far beyond pure aggression.

Tracks like “Great I Am,” “The Sorrower,” “Sympathetic,” “Suffer Louder,” and “Broken Blades” hit with relentless force, while “A Good Life,” “How Deep It Runs,” and the title track open the record into something more haunting and introspective.

Across 11 songs, Lightless Walk established Cult Leader as one of the most uncompromising heavy bands of the 2010s, blending metallic hardcore, grind, sludge and noise into a record that remains punishing, bleak and deeply atmospheric.
