Crippling Alcoholism 'Camgirl'

Camgirl is the 2025 breakthrough album from Boston’s Crippling Alcoholism, a record that sets immediate pop hooks against abrasive noise rock, obsession, endurance and collapse.

Built around a loose narrative following a sex worker moving through cycles of exploitation and survival, Camgirl refuses to separate pleasure from damage. Desire, shame, performance and persistence blur together across songs that remain deliberately melodic even as their subject matter grows increasingly confrontational.

Earworm choruses collide with harsh textures and a sense of artificial, claustrophobic atmosphere, placing the record somewhere between noise rock, post-punk, industrial music and damaged pop. Yet despite its darkness, Camgirl never fully gives itself over to nihilism. Its final moments find something resembling triumph not through redemption or escape, but through the simple act of continuing.

Originally released on vinyl by Portrayal of Guilt Records, the first pressing sold out quickly. This Flenser reissue makes Camgirl widely available again, bringing one of Crippling Alcoholism’s defining records back to vinyl.
