Brother's Keeper 'You Can't Kill Me'

Brother’s Keeper return with You Can’t Kill Me, a new career-spanning LP from the classic Erie, Pennsylvania hardcore lineup.

Formed in the 1990s, Brother’s Keeper built a reputation for doing things their own way. Their groove-heavy riffs, layered guitars and instantly recognizable vocal approach made them one of the more distinctive bands to emerge from that era of hardcore. Closely associated with the early Trustkill Records scene, the band toured relentlessly alongside groups including One King Down, Boysetsfire, Disembodied and Poison the Well, helping shape a period when hardcore was rapidly expanding beyond its established boundaries.

You Can’t Kill Me arrives in a milestone year for Brother’s Keeper, marking both the 30th anniversary of The Continuum and the 25th anniversary of Fantasy Killer. The album reunites the classic lineup of Mike Ski, Scott Emhoff, Bobby Williams, Eric Michael Schauffele and Chris Bazan for a collection of 11 career-spanning tracks.

The record also features guest appearances from Tim Singer of Deadguy on “Someone’s Gonna Die Tonight” and Billy Hamilton of Silverstein on “X Hardcore Song X,” adding another layer of hardcore history to the album.

Produced, mixed and mastered by Chris Drapeau of Aggressive Dogs, You Can’t Kill Me captures Brother’s Keeper reconnecting with the songs and sound that defined their original run while bringing that material into the present.

Decades after their first records, the qualities that made Brother’s Keeper divisive, inventive and impossible to confuse with anyone else remain intact. You Can’t Kill Me is both a look back at the band’s history and proof that their particular strain of “Non-School Hardcore” still hits on its own terms.
