Agriculture 'The Spiritual Sound'

The Spiritual Sound is the new full-length from Los Angeles band Agriculture, pushing their ecstatic approach to black metal into something even more expansive, devotional and emotionally direct.

Across the album, Agriculture move between extremes. Side A erupts in searing, cathartic intensity, while side B settles into a slower, more meditative undercurrent. The record brings together the distinct songwriting voices of Dan Meyer and Leah Levinson, whose work draws from Zen Buddhism, grief, queer history, survival and the search for meaning in an increasingly numbed-out world.

Joined by Richard Chowenhill and Kern Haug, the band dismantles and rebuilds each song collaboratively, allowing noise, melody, repetition and improvisation to reshape the material until it arrives at something larger than any single member’s vision.

Building on the ecstatic black metal of The Circle Chant, their 2023 self-titled album and Living Is Easy, The Spiritual Sound is Agriculture at their most ambitious: radiant, crushing and deeply human.

This is not background music. It is music that demands presence.
