Tragedy 'Vengeance'

Vengeance is the second full-length from Tragedy, the Portland hardcore band formed by members of His Hero Is Gone and Deathreat.

Originally released in 2002 on Tragedy Records, the album sharpens everything that made the band’s debut so powerful: crushing d-beat, brooding atmosphere, huge melodic guitar lines, and the dual vocals of Todd Burdette and Billy Davis. Songs like “Conflicting Ideas,” “Call to Arms,” “Vengeance,” “Beginning of the End,” “Night Falls,” and “No Words” move between outright aggression and darker, more expansive passages without losing any urgency.

Featuring Todd Burdette, Yannick Lorrain, Billy Davis, and Paul Burdette, Vengeance helped cement Tragedy’s place as one of the defining bands of modern crust and melodic hardcore, carrying forward the intensity of His Hero Is Gone while pushing it into something more expansive and immediately recognizable.

Recorded at Polymorph in 2002 and released through the band’s own Tragedy Records, Vengeance remains one of the essential records of the early-2000s crust and d-beat underground.
