Totalitär 'Totalitär'

Totalitär is the first new full-length from the legendary Swedish hardcore band in nearly twenty years, following 2007’s Vi Är Eliten.

Formed in Hudiksvall in the mid-1980s, Totalitär became one of the defining names in Swedish D-beat and hardcore punk, building a catalog around relentless rhythms, razor-sharp riffs, raw distortion, and politically charged lyrics. More than four decades into their existence, the self-titled album doesn’t soften any of it.

Across nine songs, “Vad Är Det Ni Vill Ha?,” “Stolta Barbarer,” “Älskade USA,” “Det Är Krig Ni Vill Ha,” “Himlen – En Öppen Kloak,” and more, Totalitär sound as urgent and confrontational as ever. Rather than revisiting the past, the band applies decades of experience to the stripped-down D-beat and hardcore attack that made them essential in the first place.

Recorded and mixed by Kenko at Communichaos in 2025 and 2026, the album captures Poffen’s unmistakable vocals against a wall of distortion, driving bass, and relentless percussion. The LP includes an insert with lyric explanations translated into English, Spanish, and Japanese.

Released in North America by Prank Records and in Europe by De:Nihil Records, Totalitär is a remarkable return from one of D-beat’s most enduring and influential bands.
