There Were Wires 'His Talk, Her Teeth'

His Talk, Her Teeth is a two-song 7" from There Were Wires, the Boston hardcore band that emerged from Martha’s Vineyard in 1999 and became a fixture of the early-2000s New England underground.

Originally released by Iodine Recordings in 2003, the single pairs “His Talk, Her Teeth” from Somnambulists with the band’s cover of Sonic Youth’s “Tunic (Song for Karen).” Both tracks were recorded during the Somnambulists sessions with Matt Squire at Q-Division Studios, capturing the darker, more atmospheric direction There Were Wires were moving toward at the end of their original run.

Drawing from hardcore, screamo, post-hardcore, and the dissonance of bands like Converge, Portraits of Past, and Unbroken, There Were Wires built a sound that balanced chaotic intensity with an increasingly heavy and moody sense of atmosphere. Members would later go on to projects including Doomriders, Disappearer, and No Flowers.

This limited reissue features an alternate cover and hand-numbered edition of 100 copies, with audio remastered by Alan Douches at West West Side.
