There Were Wires 'There Were Wires'

There Were Wires’ self-titled debut captures the Boston band at their most immediate: tense, melodic, chaotic hardcore built from equal parts abrasion and vulnerability.

Formed on Martha’s Vineyard in 1999 before becoming part of the Boston hardcore scene, There Were Wires drew from bands like Converge, Portraits of Past, and Unbroken, pairing jagged guitars and explosive dynamics with a much more emotional core than their live shows initially suggested.

Originally released after a series of self-recorded demos, the album became the foundation for everything the band would do next. This vinyl edition marks the first time the record has been pressed on LP, completely remixed by Kurt Ballou of Converge at God City Studios and remastered specifically for vinyl.

The expanded edition also includes several previously out-of-print B-sides along with the band’s 1999 demo, bringing together the earliest chapter of There Were Wires in one release.

Following the self-titled record, the band went on to release Somnambulists in 2003, pushing their sound into darker and more atmospheric territory before disbanding after a final show in 2004. Members would later go on to projects including Disappearer, Doomriders, and No Flowers.
