Shai Hulud’s Hearts Once Nourished With Hope And Compassion is one of the defining records of the band’s early era, pairing metallic hardcore with the melodic, emotionally charged songwriting that would become their signature. From the opening of “Solely Concentrating On The Negative Aspects Of Life,” the album is tense, confrontational and deeply personal, with some of the darkest and most direct lyrics of Shai Hulud’s career.

Originally released through Revelation Records, the album features Chad Gilbert on vocals alongside Matt Fox, Oliver Chapoy, Dave Silber and Steven Kleisath, capturing the band at a formative point before their sound would expand even further on later releases.
