Ritual Earth 'MMXX'

MMXX is the debut full-length from Philadelphia heavy psych and doom band Ritual Earth, blending monolithic riffs, slow-burning grooves, space-rock atmosphere, and psychedelic metal into a dense, expansive record.

Originally released digitally in 2020 and later issued on vinyl by Iodine Recordings, the album moves between crushing doom, progressive heavy rock, and cosmic psychedelia. Songs like “Solar Ecstasy,” “Escape Velocity,” “Free From My Vessel,” “I Am Dreadnaught,” and the 12-minute closer “Ascension Dimension” stretch the band’s sound into something equal parts heavy, atmospheric, and strange.

Ritual Earth formed in Philadelphia from members of Chimpgrinder, with vocalist George Chamberlin joining the band as they expanded beyond sludge into a broader mix of doom, heavy psych, shoegaze, and space rock. The addition of keyboardist Mark Boyce brought synths and electronic textures further into the band’s sound.

Mixed and mastered by David Downham at Gradwell House Recording, MMXX is built for listeners who want doom with more atmosphere, psychedelia, and progressive movement than a straightforward riff record.
