Piebald 'We Are The Only Friends We Have' (Deluxe)

The Deluxe 2xLP edition of Piebald’s We Are the Only Friends We Have expands the landmark 2002 album with 12 bonus tracks, including B-sides, demos, covers, and other archival recordings, presented in an expanded gatefold package.

Back on vinyl for the first time in more than 20 years, the album has been completely remastered for vinyl by Jack Shirley at The Atomic Garden and features reconstructed artwork created from negatives of the original photo shoot, along with a retrospective essay written by the band.

Originally produced by Paul Q. Kolderie (Radiohead, Pixies, Dinosaur Jr.), We Are the Only Friends We Have captures Piebald at the height of their evolution from the New England hardcore and post-hardcore underground into one of the most distinctive bands of the early-2000s emo and indie-rock scene.

Songs like “American Hearts,” “Just a Simple Plan,” “King of the Road,” “Fear and Loathing on Cape Cod,” and “The Stalker” pair huge hooks and sharp humor with the sincerity and unpredictable songwriting that became Piebald’s signature.

Formed in Andover, Massachusetts, Piebald emerged from the same Merrimack Valley scene that produced Converge and Cave In. We Are the Only Friends We Have became their breakthrough, earning national radio play and helping establish the band’s cult following through tours with Saves the Day, Glassjaw, Hey Mercedes, New Found Glory, RX Bandits, and Minus the Bear.

This deluxe edition offers the most expansive vinyl presentation of the album, pairing the newly remastered original record with a full second LP of rare material from the same era.
