Onelinedrawing 'Tenderwild'

For more than three decades, Jonah Matranga has built one of the most distinctive careers in emo, post-hardcore, and independent music, fronting Far, New End Original, and Gratitude while maintaining a deeply personal solo identity through onelinedrawing.

Tenderwild marked the full-length return of onelinedrawing, the first album Jonah released under the name since 2004’s The Volunteers. Written during a chaotic period of healing and reflection, the record moves between guitar-driven rock songs and intimate ballads, balancing vulnerability, optimism, and the raw emotional directness that has always defined Jonah’s work.

The album features a wide circle of friends and collaborators, including Zach Lind of Jimmy Eat World, Jeremy Tappero of Soul Asylum, Norman Brannon of Texas Is the Reason and New End Original, Chris Carrabba of Dashboard Confessional, John Gutenberger of Far, Jake Snider of Minus the Bear, and Liam Frost.

Songs like “Get a Dog,” “Tenderwild,” “This Is Water,” “Don’t Give Up,” “When I Did Drugs,” “Everyday Angels,” and “You’re a Home” reflect the breadth of onelinedrawing, moving easily between cathartic rock, confessional songwriting, and quieter moments of connection.

Produced by Jeremy Tappero and Jonah Matranga, mixed by Tappero, and mastered by Will Quinnell, Tenderwild was released in 2022 through Iodine Recordings.

At its core, Tenderwild is a record about finding your way through uncertainty without losing your capacity for connection, humor, or hope.
