Onelinedrawing 'Scan Anxiety'

For more than three decades, Jonah Matranga has built a career around direct, deeply personal songwriting, from Far, New End Original, and Gratitude to his long-running solo project onelinedrawing.

Scan Anxiety is an intimate two-song 7" pairing an original onelinedrawing song with Jonah’s interpretation of Phoebe Bridgers’ “Chinese Satellite.” Written and recorded at home by Matranga, both songs explore fear, uncertainty, and the search for something grounding when life feels overwhelming.

The title track began when Jonah was asked to contribute a song for someone going through cancer treatment. What started as a recording for one person grew into something more universal, capturing the anxiety of waiting for answers while trying to hold onto hope and connection.

As Jonah explains: “Scan Anxiety was written for someone in a desperate situation. I don't know what Chinese Satellite was written about, but it feels similar somehow. If these songs find you feeling overwhelmed and help you through to a more serene place, that's what they were meant to do.”

On the B-side, Jonah transforms “Chinese Satellite” into something unmistakably onelinedrawing, preserving the song’s haunting vulnerability while filtering it through the intimate approach that has defined his solo work for decades.

The 7" features artwork by Kevin Seconds of 7 Seconds and was released by Iodine Recordings in two limited vinyl variants.
