Gatherers 'Massalette/Sick, Sad Heart'

Massalette / Sick, Sad Heart pairs two of Gatherers’ most immediate songs on a limited 7", capturing the New Jersey band at the point where their post-hardcore sound began opening into something bigger, darker, and more atmospheric.

Originally released as singles in 2019 and 2020, the two tracks bridge the era between We Are Alive Beyond Repair and \(mutilator.\), where “Massalette” would later appear. Dense guitars, huge hooks, and Rich Weinberger’s desperate vocals push the songs somewhere between abrasive hardcore and the widescreen alternative heaviness of bands like Glassjaw and Deftones.

“NJ post-hardcore band Gatherers really swing for the fences on this one. It recalls Deftones and Glassjaw and it’s got the perfect mix of big hooks, harsh aggression, and crystal-clear production needed to really deliver on what Gatherers are going for.” - BrooklynVegan
