Agriculture’s self-titled debut full-length takes the band’s concept of “ecstatic black metal” and pushes it into a fully realized statement of joy, awe, vulnerability and transcendence.

Formed in the Los Angeles underground noise scene by Kern Haug and Daniel Meyer, Agriculture developed into its current form with Richard Chowenhill and Leah Levinson, building a sound that uses the intensity of black metal to explore emotions more often associated with beauty, connection and spiritual experience.

Across the album, soaring tremolo guitars, celebratory screams, improvisation and meditative passages collide in songs about self-acceptance, identity, community and communion with the natural world. Tracks like “Look, Pt. 2,” “The Glory of the Ocean” and “The Well” turn extreme music into something cathartic, radiant and deeply human.

Building on the foundation of The Circle Chant, Agriculture established the band as one of the most singular voices in contemporary heavy music.
