The band began in early 2020 when the three original members got together for an impromptu jam session. They carved out the beginning of what would become the song “Crawler” and parted ways, not realizing they wouldn’t step foot into the practice space again for another 19 months due to the world wide pandemic.

“We slowly began piecing together songs, pulling from our collective screamo, emo, and hardcore roots” said vocalist and guitarist Keith M. “It was a very slow process, as we were all busy with other bands and creative endeavors. We couldn’t decide on a name or a direction and that only slowed things down further.” Fast forward to summer of 2023: “I kept having these recurring dreams every night. They seemed so real. The same places; the same people; some familiar and some new. I was thinking a lot about the past, mistakes I had made and opportunities I had squandered. I wondered if all of my best days were behind me. Concurrently with the dreams, I was inspired by several pieces of art I was taking in at the time that coincided with what I had been experiencing at night and this opened up the idea of the dream world. It felt like there was work to be done - but it couldn’t all be done in our physical world. There was more to discover in this other world.”

It was then that Memory Entry settled on a name and the EP came together quickly after. The story of “Our World Is Going To Disappear” is the story of the band. Starting out simply and lamenting everyday heartbreak, but then slowly awakening, expanding our sonic palette, experimenting with different sounds and vocalizations, finding our identity, getting to know each other and realizing that there’s much more out there to discover, in this world, or another world. The final result is a sonic journey into parts unknown - combining elements of hardcore, noisecore, post hardcore and classic screamo. Aggressive but not without moments of melody and beauty, Memory Entry are set to take their place in the world of aggressive music with the release of “Our World Is Going To Disappear.”

The tale of Daughters is not over yet. The mythology that surrounds the band is again being expanded as they careen towards some unknown future. But their refusal to stay buried reminds us of the first real trauma the band inflicted on the musical landscape: the 2006 release of Hell Songs. While they utterly baffled listeners with Canada Songs, the spastic, blunt screamo the Rhode Islanders blasted through on that breakneck debut turned out to only be a warning of how subversive, innovative, and unrepentant they could be. The opening of Hell Songs immediately became an iconic moment: Frontman Alexis Marshall crooning, I ve been called a sinner, like a fire and brimstone preacher with a flask of rotgut hidden in his Bible. And over the course of roughly 23 minutes, Marshall s vocals squirm, howl and rant over a storm of songs that eschew a traditional sense of pretty much everything. At times aurally nauseating, the guitars are piercing, anti-riffs that skitter and squeal around each other in demented patterns. And pulling them together is some of the most inventive drumming in extreme music - deconstructed, shambolic rhythms played with a virtuosic precision. It would be almost impenetrable if the songs weren't so bizarrely anthemic and obscenely addictive. We have to wait and see what s next for Daughters but right now, fuck the future. Six years after its release the band followed up with 2014′s stunner The Unnatural World, and by then Deathconsciousness had become a force of influence and fanatic obsession. Seamlessly blending shoegaze, post punk, new wave, industrial and noise with unparalleled depth and weight, the album was originally released by Enemies List Home Recordings founded by HANL members Dan and Tim. Now, longtime HANL collaborator The Flenser will re-issue Deathconsciousness with deluxe packaging, including the lengthy accompanying zine and colored vinyl. Have A Nice Life commented, “Working with Flenser lets us keep things comfortable on our end, while also pressing enough copies to actually meet the need and not creating an artificially-inflated collector’s market, as happened with some of our past releases.”

The Flenser’s reissue of Deathconsciousness will be accompanied by a 75-page booklet detailing the dark and forgotten history of the Antiochean cult. Blurring the lines between novella, liner notes, and academic text, the zine itself presents an engrossing narrative. The album is rhythmic, primal and expansive and is a gloomy-post-punk masterpiece; a mediation on death, loss and unrequited love. Deathconsciousness feels more fresh and engaging with every listen and has held up as a remarkable piece of art. Fans of Have A Nice Life exhibit both cultic thought and action for good reason. It is perhaps a fanbase as dark and mysterious as the Antiochean’s, the album itself revolves around. Back in the house where he grew up, Thom found himself cut off from the familiarities of the previous decade as he put himself to work in the family trade. The monotony of routine quickly set in; work, home, and alcohol day after day became the norm. The childhood room that had given birth to his primordial four-track recordings was now a place of emptiness. These conditions set the stage for Planning For Burial’s third full-length, Below the House (of which the first single “Whiskey and Wine” is streaming here).

In terms of genre, Planning for Burial is often simply characterized as “gloom,” which can be seen as blend of slowcore, shoegaze, doom, 90s alt rock and drone, and Below the House offers nine sullen and frequently heavy songs that brim with nostalgia and suburban ennui. It is a return to form of sorts to Planning for Burial’s beloved first album, 2010’s Leaving– an introverted work characterized by its heavy dynamics and personal obsessions. Likewise Below the House is a work that feels just as private, as it was created in the dark and not expressed in Wasluck’s day to day life.

Since the beginning, Planning for Burial has been a solo endeavor. Thom has been recording music himself and touring extensively as one-man band, playing hundreds of shows in DIY spaces and nightclubs, where he has shared the stage with acts like Deafheaven, King Woman and Chelsea Wolfe.
